Planetarium

The Cejka Planetarium in Kopchick Hall is a digital planetarium 35 feet in diameter. It is used extensively for educational outreach as well as in undergraduate instruction, both for introductory astronomy courses and in classes for Earth and Space Science teaching majors.

The Anthropology, Geospatial and Earth Sciences Department is committed to combating racism through fostering inclusive and welcoming spaces for diverse students, and fostering student learning outcomes that expand the understanding of race: particularly, that race is not a biological reality, but that race and racism are cultural and social constructs that intersect with social class and other forms of social positionality to produce harm for people of color in our society and globally.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Anthropologists Conducting Field School in Germany at Site of WWII Plane Crash

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has been selected by the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency through the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. to continue its field study in Germany at the site of a December 1944 crash of a World War II B-17 airplane.

AGES Students Named to Spring 2025 Dean’s List

The Anthropology, Geospatial and Earth Sciences Department congratulates our students for being named to the Dean’s List for spring 2025. Students receive this recognition for each semester in which they earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher while taking a minimum of 12 credits.

AGES Faculty and Students Represent Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ at Society for American Archaeology Annual Meeting

Faculty and students from the Anthropology, Geospatial and Earth Sciences Department traveled to Denver to participate in the Society for American Archaeology annual meeting. They chaired sessions, presented on their ongoing work, participated in the SAA Ethics Bowl, and represented Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and the Applied Archaeology program at the Cultural Resource Management Expo.

AGES Faculty Recognized for Outstanding Scholarly Activities

During the thirty-first annual Research Awards Reception at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, three Anthropology, Geospatial and Earth Sciences faculty members were recognized for outstanding scholarly activities.

Geography and Planning Faculty Member and Alumni Receive Governor’s Awards

The Pennsylvania Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence honored public officials at an April 2025 ceremony at the Pennsylvania State Museum in Harrisburg, which included multiple authorities with graduates from the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Planning program in leadership positions.
