Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance is proud to announce that world-renowned New Orleans jazz clarinetist Doreen Ketchens will perform a free concert on Saturday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. in , Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Performing Arts Center.

The performance is part of the Dr. Edward R. Sims ’53 Distinguished Visiting Artist/Scholar for Music Series and will feature collaborations with the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Band and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Jazz Ensemble.

Known internationally as “The Clarinet Queen,” Doreen Ketchens has captivated audiences for over three decades with her dynamic performances, soulful interpretations, and virtuosity that bridges traditional New Orleans jazz and contemporary styles. Her artistry has taken her from the streets of the French Quarter to concert halls around the world, earning her acclaim as one of the leading ambassadors of New Orleans music.

“This concert offers our students and community musicians a rare opportunity to share the stage with a true jazz icon,” said Rosemary Engelstad, professor of clarinet. “Doreen Ketchens embodies the spirit of New Orleans, and we’re honored to welcome her to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ through the Sims Distinguished Visiting Artist/Scholar program.”

The Dr. Edward R. Sims ’53 Distinguished Visiting Artist/Scholar for Music Series was established to bring prominent musicians and scholars to campus, enriching the educational experience of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ students and fostering community engagement through exceptional performances.

Admission to the concert is free, and tickets are not required. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This performance is presented by the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs. It is funded, in part, by the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Student Cooperative Association.
