Daniel Shively, a librarian at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, has donated a deed dated 1808 to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Libraries Special Collections and University Archives.
The deed was issued to his great-great-great-grandfather Daniel Shively and is signed by President Thomas Jefferson and future President James Madison. Madison signed the deed as secretary of state. The property was located near Cincinnati.
Shively has been a faculty member in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Libraries since 1963.
The deed is a welcome addition to the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Special Collections and University Archives, said Dr. Phillip Zorich, interim dean of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Libraries. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Special Collections and University Archives Department hosts and organizes items related to the history of Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Pennsylvania, and rare books.
