I am deeply saddened to share the tragic news of the untimely death of our Â鶹ÊÓƵ freshman student Douglas Haney, of Bellefonte, Pa., a Political Science major. He died yesterday in his on-campus residence, Shafer Hall. The Indiana County coroner is working to determine the cause of death.
Obviously the death of any Â鶹ÊÓƵ student is tragic and difficult to bear for members of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community. I am sure you join me in expressing concern and sympathy for Douglas's friends and family.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Counseling Center provides walk-in crisis counseling to students on a daily basis. Students also may call the Counseling Center at 724-357-2621 to make an appointment or to speak to a counselor. A 24-hour crisis hotline is available at 724-465-2605.
A memorial service for Douglas will be scheduled at a later date.
