Accepting Applications for 麻豆视频 Cellobration Day: Saturday, November 12

The 麻豆视频 String Area is hosting an 麻豆视频 Cellobration Day on Saturday, November 12, featuring guest cellist Janet Anthony and 麻豆视频 faculty member Linda Jennings. The theme of the Festival is Social Justice through Music 鈥 Building Leaders Using Music Education in Haiti. Anthony will share her experiences mentoring music students and teachers in Haiti over the past 30 years.

麻豆视频 String Project Accepting Applications for Fall 2022 Semester

The 麻豆视频 String Project, a community music education outreach program for children ages 5鈥18 in Indiana and the surrounding area, is now accepting applications for private lesson instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass. Applications are due on September 1. An 麻豆视频 String Project Open House will kick off the season on Saturday, September 10. Lessons will begin the week of September 12.

Tubaphonium Ensemble Performs at International Conference

Ten members of the 麻豆视频 Tuba and Euphonium Studio recently traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to participate in the International Euphonium and Tuba Festival, held June 19鈥26, 2022, at Emory University. The 麻豆视频 tuba and euphonium players, all members of the 麻豆视频 Tubaphonium Ensemble, were invited, along with their professor, Zach Collins, to be featured performers during the festival. Zach Collins was also featured as a resident composer.

Paul Presents Conducting Workshop at Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Summer Conference

The 2022 PMEA Summer Conference, the first in-person since 2019, was held in Reading, Pa. July 18-19. Tim Paul was selected to present a conducting clinic entitled "Proper Hinge Use = Healthy Conductors."

Drum Major Academy Revived and Revamped for 2022

The 麻豆视频 DMLGA was held June 27鈥揓uly 1, 2022, on 麻豆视频鈥檚 campus. Seventy applicants, ranging from ninth graders to high school seniors registered to be a part of the camp.

Wong Doe Receives Arts Grant from Creative New Zealand for "Perspectives"

Alumna Edmondson Recognized as Teacher of the Year

麻豆视频 music alumna Rebecca Edmondson 鈥78 was recently recognized as the 2022 Hancock County Teacher of the Year. Edmondson teaches at Conners-Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Maine, where she has taught since 1990.聽

Twenty-Five Alumni Join Forces for Alumni Jazz Band

Department of Music to Celebrate Percussion Alumni

In a first-of-its-kind performance, the 麻豆视频 Music Department and the College of Arts and Humanities will present a concert by the 麻豆视频 Alumni Percussion Ensemble on Saturday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m. The group is comprised of 20 performers spanning over five decades of percussion instruction and performance at 麻豆视频.

Jung Performs Solo Piano Recital at 麻豆视频

Assistant professor of piano at Lee University, Joong Han (Jonathan) Jung will give a solo piano recital on Monday, February 7, at 8:00 p.m. in Gorell Recital Hall (second floor of Sutton Hall). His program will include works by J.S. Bach, Liszt, Ravel, and Prokofiev. Admission is free.
