A number of changes have been made based on feedback from the participants. In the early years, the biggest change has been in the use of the small group “teaching circles.” In 1993-94, individual membership in small groups was assigned by the RP coordinators and included a faculty mentor. These groups were also constructed so that members were from different colleges or departments. In the second year, 1994-95, the mentor component was dropped but the RP coordinators still assigned each participant to a group to ensure diversity. In the third year, 1995-96, the peer groups formed informally around a single theme or topic that the group planned to explore. In the fourth year, 1996-97, the peer groups were again informally formed around a single theme or topic. Each group is expected to provide a written report at the end of each year of their group activities and accomplishments. Currently, RP provides support to both departmental and cross-disciplinary teaching circles.
