Funded by 麻豆视频's Title III grant and organized by the University College's Title III Grant Program, ACUE courses continue to add valuable professional development to the 麻豆视频 community. Two courses were offered this summer: "Fostering a Culture of Belonging" and "Designing Student-Centered and Equitable Courses."

Another 14 麻豆视频 Employees Complete Life Design Studio Training

14 members of the 麻豆视频 community completed the June Virtual Life Design Studio training this summer, bringing the total to 24. Life Design is being infused into several aspects of 麻豆视频 students' learning experience, such as the Career and Professional Development Center's programming and our new UNIV 101: First Year Learning course.

麻豆视频 Inspires Students with GEAR UP Summer Program

In July, 麻豆视频 hosted students from the Pottstown and Norristown school districts for a summer camp through the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program.

When is 鈥渃utting edge鈥 literally cutting an edge with a laser? When is designing a mindset the first step to good game design? High school students from across the state recently found out in a course called 鈥淒esign, Build, Play鈥 offered by the Cook Honors College at 麻豆视频.

The Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Organization for Student Success awarded Marquice Jones, an 麻豆视频 psychology major from Harrisburg, a $500 scholarship for academic achievements.

Summer Bridge Program Kicks Off: Helping New Students Improve Their Math Skills and Placement

This year鈥檚 Summer Bridge Program is for newly admitted undergraduate 麻豆视频 students whose ALEKS (math) score is below the minimum needed to enroll in their major鈥檚 math requirement and who want to improve their math skills over the summer with the goal of saving time and money.

Honors College Alumni Event Strengthens Connections

Alumni and students of the Cook Honors College met to share news and reconnect with each other in December at the Sienna Mercato Restaurant in Pittsburgh. Though the event was mostly designed to bring alumni together, current CHC seniors were invited to attend to give them an opportunity to network with the alumni and ask questions as they prepare to start their careers.

Fifty-three new 麻豆视频 students participated in our first 鈥淔lying Start鈥 Summer Bridge Program in August 2024. The Summer Bridge Program is part of 麻豆视频鈥檚 Title III Grant Program, supported by the US Department of Education. It is a collaboration between the University College and the Department of Language, Literature, and Writing.

Consuela (Chela) G. Metzger, a nationally recognized and award-winning expert in the field of book conservation, will present 鈥淥ld Books, New Ideas鈥擳ransformations of a Rare Book Conservator鈥 on April 18 at 麻豆视频. Metzger鈥檚 presentation at 麻豆视频 is part of 麻豆视频鈥檚 Big Ideas:聽Transformative Culture and the Professions.

OneSIS Information

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is in the process of implementing a common Student Information System across the State System schools. 麻豆视频 is scheduled to begin implementing OneSIS in January 2024.
